About Us.
Creator are a small studio located in Castle Eden, County Durham. We build bespoke websites for a plethora of industries spanning the globe; from banking to luxury e-commerce.
We’re looking for a talented web developer to join our small team, working with clients who care about their businesses as much as we do.
About You.
- You have a portfolio demonstrating a strong understanding of code fundamentals and an ability to solve problems.
- You should have a strong competence with HTML, CSS & JavaScript (including Vue if possible, but don’t let this put you off applying if not) – anything else is a bonus and goes on to include SASS/SCSS, Node, Gulp, Webpack etc.
- You should have an understanding of State Management, Function Composition, SSR vs Static and all of that good stuff.
- You may have worked with PHP, both in vanilla environments, and as part of templating languages, such as Blade or Twig – Laravel is also a bonus, but not essential. Heck, PHP isn’t essential, we’re looking for someone who’s willing to have a go though.
- Understanding of BEM CSS and pre/post-processors
- Understanding of the WordPress ecosystem (fullstack/headless)
- Basic Understanding of the Shopify ecosystem & Liquid (can be learnt, really quickly)
- Familiarity with working with APIs & data fetching on server v. client
- Familiarity with Linux command line tools
- Confidence working with API’s (SOAP, REST, JSON). You don’t need to be able to write a REST API from the ground up but they should be aware of CORS
- A sprinkling of DevOps to make sure you know what to do if MySQL binlogs decide to grow to 30GB and pull a server down.
- You’re familiar with the eco-system around ‘The Web’ and want to join the debate of CSS in JS.
- You should understand version control and working as part team projects
- You’re eager to continue developing your skills. Knowledge is power!
- You don’t mind being in at the deep end, we’re looking for pro-active, problem-solvers.
- If something isn’t right – it bothers you.
You may not tick all of the boxes above, but you’re a keen, fast learner who wants to progress quickly in a working environment.
Responsibilities.
- Work directly with clients and staff to define project goals and ensure your solutions reflect what’s found during the discovery process.
- Define the best method in which to solve problems and execute on them.
- Build high-quality websites from wireframes and prototypes for internal and external applications.
- Build backend applications to extend websites functionality, we don’t just create static sites here.
- Build internal products in project down-time.
- Keep up on web trends but not be beholden to them. We build custom web products for clients, we’re not looking for someone to mirror something they saw in a theme marketplace.
- Collaborate with other developers to review and improve your work and the work of others.
- Work to and manage deadlines.
- Learn. Learn. Learn.
Perks.
In addition to a great work environment, we offer a comprehensive range of benefits. Some of these are:
- Cost-splitting for conferences/courses.
- Super fast development machine (O/S your choice!).
- Yearly Work Away (This year, we’re going to Andalusia for a week)
- Awesome office location, with easy access to the A19 (also a great pub next-door).
- Competitive salary and bonus compensation based on individual performance.
